Football Season Returns to TAS

Sample Sports Squares GridAlways in the vanguard of sports activity, the Men of TAS announce the beginning of Football Squares III. This is the third season of the popular program that gives added excitement to the Monday night games during the Fall.

Proceeds benefit special projects that TAS can’t fit into the budget. In 2013, over $3,000 was used to add extra summer camperships, supplement the Avodah fund to support service projects for our youth, provide extra religious school activities, and purchase much-needed equipment around the temple. Your support made that happen, and 50 people were winners throughout the 16 game season.

Look for the sign-up grid at the Shabbabeque on June 20th. Early-bird discounts will apply for those who join the game and pay at the event (of course, before Shabbat starts).

Open Mic Comedy Morning – Sun 6/8 at 8:45a

Open MicrophoneGot any good Jewish-themed jokes? Want to learn some great jokes? In either case, you should come to the next MoTAS meeting on Sunday, June 8, starting at 8:45am in Activity Center 3/4. This meeting is sure to be an exciting and fun meeting — we are calling it “Open Mic Comedy Morning.” Bring your favorite Jewish-themed jokes. Experience doesn’t matter. Who cares if your timing is not “professional”? There may even be a prize for best (or worst) joke. So, if you haven’t been with us for a Sunday breakfast in a while, this is a great opportunity to drop by and have a laugh with the guys. Remember: Sunday June 8, 8:45am, Activity Center 3/4.

Gently Used Sporting Goods Needed

One of the young men in our congregation, Justin Tuell, has a Bar Mitzvah project of interest to MoTAS. Justin is collecting gently used sporting goods for the Hollenbeck Youth Center. While the kids do enjoy new items, if someone has gently used gear that would be good, too. At the center they do karate, boxing, basketball, baseball, soccer (seasonal), and Flag football (seasonal). They also have a weight room there for the high schoolers. Justin has put a container in the hallway at the temple for donations, or arrangements can be made to rendezvous at the temple to pick up any donations. In addition, donations can be made on the Hollenbeckpbc.org website. Justin’s bar mitzvah is August 2 and he is working hard to prepare. Call 818-271-8968 if you have any questions.
