From the Editor: The goal of the Weekly is to get MoTAS members the information they need on upcoming activities, and then get out of the way. If you have any information on MoTAS activities you need to get out to the membership, please contact the Weekly Editor at cybermaven@tasnorthridge-motas.org. During the summer, when there are not a lot of events, the weekly will appear … less than weekly. If you know of someone who should be getting the weekly, of if you had this forwarded this to you and you want to get on our sublist, please drop a note to cybermaven@tasnorthridge-motas.org and we’ll add you.

1. SEPTEMBER MEMBERSHIP MEETING – SUN SEP 14

September 14 will be the first meeting of the MOTAS year. We will discuss the succot building and the annual pancake breakfast for the religious school coming October 5 and October 12 respectively. Please attend and bring a temple friend. A full breakfast, including bagels, lox, and eggs, will be available starting at 8:45am. Join us for our usual business review, and learn what is happening with the temple.

If you are wondering about the Pancake Breakfast: According to the Temple Calendar, we are doing the Pancake Breakfast the sixth day of Sukkot, which is the first Sunday of Sukkot, Sunday, October 12. We will be building the sukkah the Sunday before that, on October 5, the Sunday after Yom Kippur.

2. MRJ WEBINAR – TU SEP 9: CAMPUS CLIMATE FOR JEWISH STUDENTS: WHAT PARENTS NEED TO KNOW

On Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at 05:00 PM Pacific, MRJ will be presenting a webinar titled “Campus Climate for Jewish Students: What Parents Need to Know”. The abstract is as follow: With a deep belief in the power of relationships to drive meaningful change, Dr. Shaw Frank is a sought-after speaker, facilitator, and mentor who empowers young Jewish leaders in high school and college settings. She is a trusted adviser to educational leaders, assisting them in building brave and resilient educational spaces that promote fact-based inquiry, dialogue across difference, and a nuanced understanding of Israel, antisemitism, and Jewish identity.

3. SEPTEMBER DINING OUT – PRESTO PASTA – TU SEP 16

Would you like an easy way to help MoTAS financially? How about taking your family to dinner. The MoTAS “Dining Does Good” allows you to go out to dinner, and have the restaurant donate a portion of your check support the Men of TAS. Our next Dining Does Good” will be Tuesday, September 16,  at  Presto Pasta, 17923 Chatsworth St., Granada Hills, CA 91344, (818) 360-7737. .

How do you get a flyer? You can find a flyer for the event at https://wp.tasnorthridge-motas.org/activities/dining/ (click on the image of the flyer) or download PDF from our Google Drive . From there, just click on the printer icon to print, or the three dots to download.

We really encourage you to come and support these events: we raise a little extra funds for our work, but more importantly, we come together and break bread as a Temple family on a regular basis. It is a real joy to walk into a neighborhood restaurant and see your Temple friends, to sit down and share a table and talk. This is the heart and goal of MoTAS: Building Relationships.
