1. L’SHANAH TOVAH FROM YOUR MOTAS LEADERSHIP

Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, starts at sundown tonight, September 20th. Your MoTAS Leadership wishes you and your family L’Shana Tovah. Happy New Year 5778. May you be written and inscribed for a very happy, sweet, and healthy new year.

2. SUKKAH BUILDING: SUNDAY 10/1

The approach of the High Holidays means it is nearly time to build a Sukkah. Mark your calendar for the Sunday October 1st. That morning, we’ll gather together under the watchful eye (and voice) of our Sukkah Foreman, Robert Levin, at 8AM to build our Sukkah. Bring your hex wrenches, zip-ties, wire cutters, and most importantly, gloves and protective headgear (if you have it), and come out and help. I find this one of the most fun activities of the MoTAS year—men working together to build something. Come join us for the fun.

Note: In the past, we’ve gotten s’chach from Valley Crest Gardening, but they have changed owners and are no longer providing it. For those of you with gardeners, it would really help us if you could talk to them and see if they might be able to donate us palm fronds about a week before we start building the Sukkah (we’ll be glad to provide a donation letter). We’ll be building the Sukkah on Sunday, October 1st; Yom Kippur is from the evening of Friday, September 29 to sundown on Saturday, September 30. If your gardner will be able to help, [Click Here] and we will be in contact with you.

3. OCTOBER SPEAKER 10/15: LONG TERM CARE PLANNING

At our September meeting, we heard Stephen Rischall, a financial planner, talk about what we must do to plan for the education of our children and grandchildren. Now our attention turns to the other end of the spectrum: planning for the care of our parents, and quite possibly, ourselves. The need for long term care may happen to anyone…at any time. By planning now, you can help reduce the emotional and financial impact of long term care on you and your loved ones. Join us for an informative educational seminar. You’ll learn more about long term care, how much it may cost, if your other insurance will cover it, and what you can do to prepare for a long term care need.

As always, please join us at 8:45 AM for breakfast, followed by a short recap of upcoming activities. The speaker will start at 9:30 AM. Please let anyone you know who might be growing older or who might have parents know about this talk.

Our speaker, Robert M. Smith, CLU, ChFC, CLTC, RICP, has been helping people protect their families and businesses since 1988. A graduate of Stanford University with Honors, Robert received his MA from the University of California, Berkeley, in History. An active member of the local community, Robert is married to Susan and has four children.
